"Only 0.5% of US hospitals have achieved Stage 6. This level of achievement is a major accomplishment worthy of high praise, industry recognition and celebration!" read the invitation to the award ceremony, which is to be hosted in Chicago on April 6.
It went on to say, that Parkview "started out on this journey with a vision and a strategic plan- guided by a committed executive management and IT team. As a Stage 6 hospital, Parkview deserves special recognition as a national leader."
Parkview’s Assistant Vice President and Chief Information Officer, Bill McQuaid states, "Achieving Stage 6 is very rewarding for our staff. We are honored that the nation looks to us as a leader in healthcare IT. We take special pride in being the smallest hospital to-date to reach Stage 6 using all in house resources."
Parkview implemented the single vendor MEDITECH system in 2005. It allows Parkview physicians and nurses to deliver care more efficiently by allowing all patient data to be readily available on demand, regardless of whether the health care providers are on the hospital floor, in the physician’s office, or off campus. At the same time, it allows for complete patient confidentiality in a secure program.
This recognition follows other awards received by Parkview in 2008, including a Five Star Award for Inpatient Service from Avatar International and the IDG’s InfoWorld 100 Award, for Parkview’s biometric fingerprint security programs.
