Parkview Adventist Medical Center presented its annual Spirit of Women signature event, “Girls' Night Out,” March 3, at the Hilton Garden Inn, Freeport.
The maximum-capacity event provided an estimated 250 women with health screenings, a breast cancer educational program, fashion show and personal testimonials by breast cancer survivors, according to Program Director Lisa Personett.
Jenifer Lloyd, president-elect of the Maine Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure, presented the keynote address and Kathy Burgess, RN, summarized methods for reducing a woman's risk of breast cancer.
Educational talks and health screenings included blood pressure, body composition, cholesterol, osteoporosis, dermascan, Wheel of Wellness and private self breast exam instruction.
“Parkview is dedicated to the highest standard of excellence in women’s health outreach and care in body, mind and spirit,” said Personett. “We were delighted by the turnout for an evening of fun, friendship and education.”
The first 150 women who arrived at the event received a gift certificate, compliments of Clay Play Pottery in Yarmouth.
