"The ComputerWorldMagazine Premier 100 IT Leaders Award honors individuals who have a positive impact on their organization through technology," said a magazine official.

"Honored individuals manage IT functions, mentor and motivate their IT teams with interesting challenges, envision innovative solutions to business problems and effectively manage and execute IT strategies."

McQuaid was honored at the annual conference along with 99 other CIO’s from companies such as Direct TV, Del Monte Foods, Johnson & Johnson, GlaxoSmithKline, Procter and Gamble, Motorola, Wells Fargo, Clemson University, FedEx Ground and MasterCard, according to Parkview President Ted Lewis, who accompanied McQuaid to the awards ceremonies.

"Parkview is fortunate to have the extraordinary leadership and talent of one of the world’s top 100 IT professionals in 2010," said Lewis.

"We hired Bill from L.L. Bean to work at Parkview as a Network Administrator, promoted him to Department Director, and then to Assistant Vice President and Chief Information Officer," Lewis said.

"Bill has taken a system that had no email ten years ago and developed a sophisticated electronic medical records (EMR) system," Lewis said.

"Parkview now ranks among the top 2% of hospitals analyzed by HIMSS Analytics, the independent research arm of the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society.  When Parkview achieved prestigious HIMSS Stage 6 capabilities in 2009, we became the second smallest hospital to earn that distinction."
